The Africa Ubuntu Association (AUA) is a dynamic, not-for-profit art community organization, deeply rooted in the rich cultural ethos of Africa. Located on the Unceded Syilx Territory, AUA's mission is to cultivate a vibrant community in the greater Okanagan area. It serves as a nurturing space for Africans, those of African descent, and anyone with an interest in African culture. At the heart of AUA's philosophy is the African concept of Ubuntu - 'I am because you are.' This philosophy emphasizes the importance of community, where each individual is encouraged to shine, contributing to a collective brilliance rather than standing alone.

Digital Marketing Strategy
We want students to help us develop a digital marketing strategy to grow and engage our target market. Weβd like to know how we can maximize different channels and what will work best for us. The main questions weβd like students to help us answer are the following: How should we promote our company? What social media channels should we utilize? What budget is appropriate for advertising? What messaging should we use?
Grant Writing
Our organization plans to host an annual art festival (Music, Visual art and Film) each year during September and October. However, we are currently facing funding challenges. We would like to collaborate with students to find and complete grant applications. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our vision statement and a project we have defined. Developing a needs statement that characterizes the community problem and justifies the need for our project and funding. Identifying potential sponsors and funding opportunities that are a good fit for our organization and project. Improving the clarity and persuasiveness of our company's grant proposal writing. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Identifying new opportunities for community projects.
Digital Marketing
We have developed a set of marketing strategies, but it has been challenging to implement them. We would like to collaborate with students to review and post content promoting our company. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our target market, products and services. Reviewing marketing content in the form of posts, emails, brochures, etc. Deploying content according to our social media calendar to increase website traffic. Overseeing our channels and keeping them up-to-date. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Recommending search engine optimization (SEO) strategies so our materials are easily accessible.
Email Marketing Campaign
Our company advertises our product and community online. We hope to revamp our email marketing to attract more customers. We would like to work with students to design a new email marketing campaign for our company. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our companyβs products, email marketing campaign goals and target market. Identifying types of emails and content that our company should send out such as welcome emails, newsletters, and re-engagement emails. Researching factors affecting the effectiveness of email marketing such as when emails are sent and making recommendations. Identifying metrics to monitor throughout the campaign. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Identifying ways to personalize emails for customers based on market segmentation.
