- I am a Professional Engineer (Mechanical) that has over 10-years of engineering experience.
- I've worked on aluminum welded boats, bulk-solids heat exchangers, HVAC for buildings/facilities, and instrumentation/fittings manufacturing.
- A couple of my favorite projects include a sorption (adsorber/desorber) heat exchanger for capturing VOCs from manufacturing paint booths which included troubleshooting the use of high-temperature RTDs, and the (DOE) SunShot Initiative - Concentrated Solar Power - Solar Array - super critical CO2 Bulk-Solids Heat-Exchanger energy capture and power generation time shift project. - Companies

Instrumentation Mechanical Engineering Analyses (Thermowells & Quills)
We are looking for engineering students to help us analyze the performance of some of our products. Examples are as follow: Mechanical analyses of thermowells installed in piping and vessels. Mechanical analyses of injection/sampling quills installed in piping and vessels. Types of mechanical analyses to consider: Stress analyses (static and dynamic) Vibration analyses Fluid dynamics analyses (vortex shedding) Heat transfer analyses Materials analyses (corrosion and erosion) Exploring standard, novel, and new solutions to these challenging applications and having these analyses of thermowells/quills would be useful to deal with non-standard design conditions that are outside of the “ASME PTC 19.3 TW-2016 - Thermowells – Performance Test Codes – Standard” limitations.
Heat Transfer Analysis
We are looking for engineering students to help us analyze the performance of some of our products. Examples are as follow: 1. Thermowells with sensors installed into vessels and piping systems. This could include the heat transfer analysis of different variations on the thermowell design with conduction, convection, and/or radiation depending on the process selected. 2. Surface mount sensors mounted inside of furnaces. This could include the heat transfer analysis of different variations on the sensor design with conduction, convection, and radiation. 3. Injection quills dispersion and mixing modelling. Having analyses of sensor heat losses/gains, response times, and thermal balance/equilibrium would be useful. As well as comparing the difference between the actual process temperature to the expected measured temperature.
Instrumentation/Pressure Fittings Installation, Operation, & Maintenance Guides
Positions Available: Up to Three (3) Students Aircom is looking for up to three (3) students to join us for 80-hours each Two-to-eight (2-8) weeks to complete the project(s) Our Goal: To provide our customers with industry leading guides and manuals for temperature instrumentation and pressure fittings to help make installing, operating, and maintaining their equipment easier and to help meet current engineering best practices. The Challenge: Clearly communicate the life-cycle needs of the key Aircom products to their designers and users. Expected Project Execution: To research and produce a written and visual guide/manual for one of Aircom's key products with the guidance and supervision from Aircom. Project Options: Instrument Fitting Project Options: Thermowells Threaded Flanged Socket-Welded/Weld-In Velocity-Collar StrakeWell™ Quills Injection Sampling StrakeQuill™ Temperature Sensors Assemblies RTDs Thermocouples Manifolds/Bridles/Level-Chambers/Spool Pieces Cylinders Fittings
Instrumentation & Pressure Fittings IOM Guides/Manuals
To create written guidelines/manuals to help our customers with the full life cycle of instrumentation and pressure fittings. This includes but is not limited to selection, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Instrumentation and Pressure Fittings: Thermowells (General/Velocity-Collar/StrakeWell/etc.) Quills (Injection/Sampling) Manifolds/Bridles/Level-Chambers/Spool Pieces Cylinders Fittings Sensor Assemblies (RTDs/Thermocouples)
