This collaboration will entail several essential steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our organization's vision statement and one of our defined projects. Crafting a comprehensive needs statement that delineates the community problem we aim to address and convincingly justifies the necessity for funding our project. Identifying potential sponsors and funding opportunities that align with both our organization's mission and our specific project goals. Enhancing the clarity and persuasiveness of our grant proposal writing, ensuring it effectively communicates our mission and project impact. As an added opportunity, students can also explore: Identifying novel community project opportunities that resonate with our mission. We are seeking motivated students who can take on the responsibility of small-scale grant writing to help our organization secure the funding needed to make a meaningful impact in the lives of neurodivergent youth and the broader community." Additionally an option will be given to take on a literature review related to neurodiversity, youth, and health. Completing a literature review involves several essential steps: defining research objectives, creating effective search strategies, conducting comprehensive database searches, selecting and evaluating sources, categorizing and organizing materials, maintaining a bibliographic database, analyzing and summarizing key findings, synthesizing information, writing concise source summaries, critiquing source quality, identifying influential authors and theories, citing sources consistently, possibly creating a conceptual framework, writing a coherent review section, editing and proofreading meticulously, staying current with new research, and seeking feedback from peers and mentors. This systematic process ensures a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the chosen research topic.

Literature Summary Research Assistant

Our research lab publishes dozens of papers every year to promote projects in our field of research. Among these papers are systematic reviews of relevant literature, which analyze the progression of research within our field. We would like to collaborate with students to support our literature review process by categorizing papers and summarizing important findings. This allows us to extract and process data more easily. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our research and the types of academic papers that we are interested in. Reading studies relevant to our area of research. Applying the categorization scheme to classify relevant studies. Summarizing important results from relevant studies. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Working with researchers to draft a publication based on the results.

Employee Survey Creation

Our company although small has employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We want to understand how we can increase employee satisfaction and team efficiency. To understand employee perspectives, we would like to collaborate with students to create an anonymous survey for our workforce. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Researching platform options to conduct the survey. Identifying the most suitable survey platform for our company. Conducting research on key topics that should be included in the survey. Recommending multiple-choice and short-answer questions to gauge employee opinions. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Testing and improving the questionnaire based on feedback. Administering the survey and analyzing results.

Website Development

Our company advertises thousands of products online. We hope to update and revamp our existing website to attract more customers. We would like to work with students to develop a new website that is easy to maintain while providing an appealing interface for users. This can be achieved through common site building tools such as Wix, Webflow, and WordPress. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Researching different site-building tools and their associated advantages / disadvantages. Conducting a needs analysis to determine which platform is most suitable. Building a website, with our assistance in providing the content. Providing training on updating and maintaining the website. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Testing prototypes with customers and refining ideas with feedback.

Data Collection Research Assistant

We are looking to develop a Housing Research lab, in which will seek to evaluate the current state of housing research... This will be mostly literature reviews/reports, rather than primary research being conducted. We would like to collaborate with students to support our interview process by assisting in data collection and verification of results. This will provide us with prepared datasets that are ready for further analysis. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with interview procedures and participating in training activities. Assisting researchers in contacting participants and setting up interviews. Recording, organizing, and storing results according to conventions. Verifying that data is recorded accurately. Cleaning data to ensure consistency and usability. Suggesting new research questions or modifications to improve the interview process.

Housing Policy Implication Study

We are planning to implement a policy, however before we do we would like to understand the expected implications of it within this population. This way, we will be able to mitigate any risks that the policy may pose by making adjustments before it is implemented. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Identifying similar policies that have been implemented in other populations. Comparing our policy to other policies and researching the implications that they have had. Conducting interviews with people in the populations affected by these similar policies. Identifying risks and effects that are created by our policy. Creating recommendations on how we could change or improve our policy to make it as effective as possible.

Diversity/Inclusion Strategy

We are trying to develop a meaningful policy in how we create a meaningful workplace, interms of being inclusive to diverse backgrounds and experiences. We want to create an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued. We would like to collaborate with students to create a diversity and inclusion strategy. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Identifying areas for improvement based on our diversity audit data. Defining diversity goals and objectives for our company. Considering new diversity and inclusion training initiatives. Recommending ways to communicate diversity and inclusion initiatives to employees. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Recommending a timeline for evaluating our diversity and inclusion strategy.

Accessibility Testing

We would like to test out and report on website accessibility! The main problem we are trying to solve is to garner more user feedback on our interface’s accessibility. We would like to collaborate with students to conduct accessibility tests on our website with pre-identified customers. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Conducting background research on disabilities and methods of evaluating accessibility. Reaching out to customers and scheduling interviews. Familiarizing themselves with the test tasks that should be administered. Conducting accessibility tests remotely and following up with customers to thank them for their participation. Analyzing and reporting the metrics / results of the tests. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Recommending website improvements based on findings.

Digital Marketing - Housing Graphics and Media

We are looking to develop a set of social media/creative strategies on our online platform. We have developed a set of marketing strategies, but it has been challenging to implement them. We would like to collaborate with students to review and post content promoting our company. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our target market, products and services. Reviewing marketing content in the form of posts, emails, brochures, etc. Deploying content according to our social media calendar to increase website traffic. Overseeing our channels and keeping them up-to-date. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Recommending search engine optimization (SEO) strategies so our materials are easily accessible.
